About Canyon Angels

We're pretty unique.

We help early stage startups change the world.
Canyon Angels is a sophisticated angel investment group founded in 2015. Through strategic partnerships and top tier deal flow, we're has grown to over 70 investors. Seated in the heart of Arizona economic activity, we've been able to help fund approximately 30 different ventures totaling over $3 million in investments from our members. Our primary goal is to fund highly scalable startups that allow accredited investors to diversity their portfolios. We serve as a filtering mechanism to find desirable investment opportunities locally in Arizona and globally.

Tim Kelley
Chairman of the Board
Tim Kelley is an entrepreneur, avid angel investor, and philanthropist. He proudly founded Canyon Angels in 2015 and currently serves as the chair of entrepreneurship at GCU.
Paul Waterman
Board Member
Paul Waterman is an angel investor and entrepreneur. He currently teaches entrepreneurship and oversees the project management club at GCU.
Michael Hool
Board Member
Michael is active as an investor in a growing portfolio of emerging companies and has chaired or served on the board of Arizona Venture Capital Conference, BioAccel, AzTech Investors, and the Indus Entrepreneurs.
David Blackledge
Board Member
David is an active investor in multiple angel groups and an Adjunct Professor in Law and Ethics at GCU.

Canyon Angels Launched
January 2015
Canyon Angels was launched by entrepreneur and investor Tim Kelley in partnership with Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. This group would later be recognized as the board.
The Founding 50
March 2018
The Canyon Angels' founding 50 members were recognized as the core group investors and entrepreneurs who came together to build something amazing.
Canyon Ventures Founded
February 2020
Canyon Angels was happy to announce a partnership with Canyon Ventures, Grand Canyon University's accelerator and incubator for community ventures.

In partnership with Grand Canyon University and Canyon Ventures, Canyon Angels offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the investing realm. This not only gives our students great opportunities to excel in their careers, but also gives our members the ability to leave a legacy.
